Montreal-based director Denis Chouinard will be present to introduce the film and answer questions. Chouinard has directed three feature films and heads the acclaimed filmmaking program at the University of Quebec at Montreal.

Equal parts social drama, political thriller, and road movie, L’ange de goudron tells the story of a family of Algerian immigrants in Quebec. Ahmed and his family have found a new home in Montreal after fleeing the Algerian civil war and are on the verge of obtaining Canadian citizenship when his teenage son joins a militant activist group. Ahmed embarks on a quest through the snowy Quebec landscape to track him down before it is too late.
