Simon Godwin directs George Farquhar’s wild 18th century comedy of love and money. Two charming young men who have blown their inheritances in giddy London are on the lookout for an heiress to marry so they can repair their fortunes. Concealing their poverty as they plot their strategies, they encounter a variety of hu-man obstacles and oddball characters while fate decides their outcome.
